One cannot help to be entertained by the lively little book. Mr. Schaffer is so great at making the book come to life. He covers just about every aspect of dog life as well as life with the pet. The book is chock full of tips and advice on what to do to make your dog's life the best it can be as well as your life with the dog. Everything from how to select a dog and where to go to get it to picking a veterinarian can be found within the pages of One Nation Under Dog.
Along with the practical advice in, the author shows dog owners how to have fun with their pets. He takes a lot of the tasks of pet ownership and makes them seem simple and easy. The writer also gets into products for dogs, their prices, what is good, etc. It is very helpful as a soup to nuts primer on dog ownership. There is even a legal section that provides a good overview on the law and how it applies to dog ownership. That alone is worth the price of the book. The book also goes into the business of dogs and how much money is spent in the country on dogs and being a dog owner.
Also, in One Nation Under Dog, Michael Schaffer shows us the origin of snob appeal when it comes to our canine friends. He touches on subjects many people wouldn't even think of. It is truly a great read not only as a how to manual but as a training manual as well. Absolutely everything is covered in this book and no matter what kind of dog you have or what stage of life they are in, this book should be on every dog owner's book shelf.
